There will we a tour of the No Border Camp site on Tuesday 23 at 14:00-15:30 and Friday 12:00-13:30 except the camping areas. Règles établies pour les contacts presse sur le Camp
- Pas de photographies sur le site du Camp
- Pas de presse à l'intérieur du Camp, sauf sur invitation et avec accompagnement d'une presonne du groupe presse (voir ci-dessous pour plus d'infos)
- Une tente médias se trouvera à l'entrée du Camp. Elle servira de lieu de contacts avec la presse. Des membres de l'équipe presse du camp seront régulièrement disponibles pour des briefings et interviews.
- 2 téléphones destinés à la presse : 06 66 48 61 04 (FR) & +44 7766 700131 (EN). Ils seront allumés chaque jour de 9h à 18h. Des interlocuteur/trices francophones et anglophones seront disponibles, et nous pouvons trouver des hispanophones, germanophones, néerlandophones et italophones à la demande.
Pas de presse sur la camp : Pourquoi ?
C'est le choix qu'a fait ce camp No Border, comme l'ont fait les précédents camps No Border. Pendant la semaine, le camp sera notre domicile, le lieu où nous reposerons, mangerons, discuterons, rencontrerons des amiEs. Nous voulons que ce soit un endroit sûr et confortable pour touTEs ceux et celles qui nous rejoignent.
On nous a déjà opposé l'argument suivant : "Pourquoi vous prétendez-vous sans frontières alors que vous érigez des barrières contre la presse ?" Accepteriez-vous de nous laisser entrer chez vous, nous promener et prendre des photos de vous et votre famille quand nous le voudrions ? Bien sûr que non, et nous ne le souhaiterions pas non plus. Alors, pourquoi la presse pourrait-elle se promener là où nous allons vivre pendant une semaine où et quand elle le voudrait ?
Une autre raison pratique : la présence des migrantEs. Beaucoup des migrantEs de Calais souhaitent se rendre au camp, mais ne veulent pas que leur présence personnelle sur le camp soit rendue publique. Il y a un vrai risque que des images ou enregistrements puissent servir ensuite pour les poursuivre après que le camp ait quitté Calais. Ils et elles doivent s'y sentir en sécurité, ce que ne permettent guère la présence de journalistes et d'appareils photos ou caméras.

Rules established for press contact during the Calais No Border Camp
Calais No Border Camp has produced a set of guidlines for press contact during the duration of the camp.
- NO PHOTOGRAPHY ON THE SITE.
- NO PRESS ON THE SITE UNLESS BY INVITE (and then only in the company of a press team member - for more info see below)
- THERE WILL BE A MEDIA TENT AT THE CAMP ENTRANCE - acting as a press contact point and members of the Camp press team will make themselves available for briefings and interviews on a regular basis.
- THERE ARE 2 PRESS PHONES AVAILABLE TO CALL: 06 66 48 61 04 (FR) & +44 7766 700131 (EN) . These will operate between the hours of 09:00 & 18:00. We will have both French and English speakers available at those times (and can provide Dutch, German, Spanish and Italian speakers if needed).
So why no press on site?
This is the policy of this No Border Camp, as it has been at all recent No Border Camps. During the week of the camp this will be our home, our place to relax, eat, make friends and discuss and as such we want to make it a safe and comfortable space for all that choose to join us.
The spurious argument has been put forward that "How can you call yourselves No Borders when you erect barriers to us (the press)?" But just consider this: would you allow us to enter your home, to wander around and take photographs of you and your family whenever we wanted to? No, of course not and nor would we want to. So why should the press be able to wander into where we are going to be living, and calling home, for a week, taking photographs whenever and whereever they want to?
There is a more practical reason - the migrants. Many of the Calais migrants wish to visit the camp but do not want records of their presence on the camp. There is a serious risk that such records could be used as an excuse to persecute them later, after we and the camp have left Calais. We need them to feel as safe as possible and the presence of cameras and the press will not allow for that.
This is the same argument we use for not wanting the police on the site, despite the media innuendo that we "wish to remain lawless!"
